Armande Ramos died peacefully in his sleep on April 18th, 2025, at age 89. Armande was born in Fall River, MA., on May 25th, 1935, the son of the late Michael and Elizabeth Ramos.
Armande was raised in Fall River, Massachusetts. He was so eager to serve his country that he left high school early to enlist in the United States Marines. He proudly earned his GED several years after enlisting. He married his beloved wife of over 67 years, Sue G. (Gonsalves) Ramos, in 1958. They met at a dance and have been together ever since. The couple lived in New Bedford before settling in Fall River to raise their family.
Armande served his time in the Marines valiantly. Serving in the US Marines was one of his proudest accomplishments. Upon completion of his service to the country, Armande worked to repair sewing machines in various clothing and textile mills in the heyday of Fall River’s textile manufacturing days. He also completed several college courses and earned several certificates in mechanical engineering, which allowed him to become a master sewing machine mechanic and apparel engineer.
Armande was a profoundly religious man and proud member of the South Swansea Baptist Church. Over the years, he served as a youth group leader, Sunday school teacher to both adults and children, and as a church Deacon. He also deeply enjoyed singing in the Church choir. Throughout his life, Armande did his best to exemplify church teachings in all he said and did. He worked hard to encourage the values of hard work, kindness, and encouragement. He had a deep respect for family, friendship, church, community, and country.
In addition to his wife, Armande is survived by his only daughter, Monica S. Randolph of Fall River, his grandchildren, Tyler S. Randolph, Travis J. Randolph, and Mya A. Randolph, and his great-grandson, TJ Randolph. He is also survived by his brother, John Ramos. He is predeceased by his sisters, Anne E. Gonsalves and Gloria Mitchel. He was much loved by his many nieces and nephews.
Armande was well-liked by all who knew him. He had a positive outlook on life, and a smile and a kind word for those he had just met to those that he knew for many years. His was always an unwavering and happy presence.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM with a funeral service at 11:30 AM in the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River.
