Antonio B. "Tony" Tavares, Jr., 93, formerly of Hunter St. and Milliken Blvd., Fall River, died Friday, October 21, 2005 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Dora J. (Angelini) Tavares. A lifelong resident of Fall River, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Borges) Tavares. A carpenter and former member of the Carpenter's Union, he was employed by E. Turgeon Construction Corp., Providence for many years. A member of St. Mary Cathedral Parish, he was an avid Red Sox fan and was greatly interested in politics. Survivors include 2 sons, Ralph Tavares and his wife Carolee of Somerset and Anthony Tavares and his wife Judith of Tiverton; 2 daughters, Diane Tavares of Weymouth, MA and Elizabeth Patricio and her husband John of Fall River; 2 sisters, Mary Cordeiro of Thousand Oaks, CA and Ann Ferreira of Tiverton; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Manuel and Carols Tavares and Beatrice Branco. His funeral will be held Monday at 8:30 a.m. from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Mary Cathedral, Spring St. at 9:00. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. LARGE PARKING AREA and barrier-free entrance to the rear of funeral home.
