Antonio S. Moniz

Antonio S. Moniz, 72, of Fall River, husband of Fernanda (Morais) Moniz, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017.
Born in Calhetas, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late José Raposo Moniz and Gloria (Soares) Moniz. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1972. He served in the Portuguese Navy for 10 years, with tours in Mozambique and Guinea. He loved the open ocean. His hobbies included fishing, cooking and handcrafting model sailboats.
Besides his wife of 45 years, he leaves two children, Bobby Moniz (wife Emily) and Cinthia Moniz (husband Christopher Joinson), two grandchilden, Lucas and Ophelia, a great-grandson, Elliott, a brother, José Moniz, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 4 brothers and a sister.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 8:00 a.m. from Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S.Main St. Fall River, with a funeral mass in Santo Christo Church at 9:00 a.m. Entombment, Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
