Antonio DaPonte, 78, of Fall River, husband of Elizabeth (Downey) DaPonte, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020.
Born in Santa Barbara, St. Michael, Azores, he was a machinist for Boston Envelope and Harodite Finishing. He loved the ocean, was an avid fisherman and played for a soccer team in his younger years. A big animal lover, he spent a lot of his time with his dog and best friend, E.T., who has now passed. He loved his family and was a devoted husband and father.
Besides his wife of 57 years, he leaves a daughter, Laura Tavares of Fall River; three sisters, Maria Paiva (husband the late John), Ureselina Almeida (husband the late Adelino) and Belmira Botelho (husband the late Aurelio) all of Fall River; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews; a sister-in-law, Patricia Downey of Taunton and dear family friends, Darlene Squires and David Desmarais both of Fall River. He was the brother of the late Joaquim DaPonte (wife the late Virginia), son of the late Joaquim and Maria (Oliveira) DaPonte and beloved grandfather of the late fur grandchildren, Gizmo, Simba, Fuzzy, Snowball, Brandi and Princess.
