Ann Marie (Gagnon) Binette, age 82, of Fall River passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 22, 2022.
She was the wife of the late Robert R. Binette, the love of her life to whom she had been married to for 59 years.
Born in Manchester, NH, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Irene (LaHaie) Gagnon and grew up in Fall River. She was a 1958 graduate of Dominican Academy and then completed the St. Anne’s Hospital Laboratory Technician program. She worked at both St. Anne’s and Boston Children’s hospitals as a Laboratory Technician. Later she worked at Truesdale Hospital which became Charlton Hospital, as a Histology Technician.
A kind and giving individual who volunteered endlessly at Holy Name School, President of the Women’s Guild and a member on their Board of Education. A CCD teacher at both Holy Name and St. Anne’s parishes. A recipient of the Home Town Hero Award and the President of St. Ignasius Women’s Guild at Bishop Connolly High School.
Mrs. Binette ran numerous successful school fundraising events and had the uncanny ability to get many donations from local businesses. Her favorite event being the Christmas poinsettia drive her most loved plant and season.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane Tighe husband Thomas of Dartmouth and Eileen McCarthy Mendonca husband Steven Mendonca of Fall River; grandchildren, Patrick and Kathryn Tighe, Casey and John (Jack) McCarthy, David and Peter Mendonca and great- granddaughter Alexandra Mendonca. She was also blessed with lifelong friendships.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 20, 2023, at St. Bernard's Church, 32 South Main St. Assonet Village, at 11:00 A.M. (the family will start to greet guests starting at 10:30 A.M.)
