Anita E. (Thibault) Dufour, RN, 102, passed away on February 15, 2025, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Roger P. Dufour, Sr. Anita dedicated her life to caring for others and expressing herself through the arts.
She was a graduate of Jesus Mary Academy, Class of 1941, and Saint Anne's Hospital, School of Nursing, Class of 1944. Anita's early career as a registered nurse for the late Dr. David Prial, and also in Orlando for two years during WWII, embodied the spirit of compassion and resilience epitomized by her generation.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Anita was an extraordinarily talented self-taught artist whose love for painting allowed her to share her vibrant view of the world through the strokes of her brush. Whether it was the delicate petals of her beloved orchids or the picturesque landscapes that inspired her, Anita poured her heart into each creation, leaving behind a legacy of beauty.
Music was another significant part of Anita’s life; she played the violin gracefully, filling her home with melodies that danced through the air.
She is survived by her son, Roger P. Dufour and his wife Patricia, two sons-in-law, Henry Attar and Stephen Forczyk, eight grandchildren, Peter Attar (wife Lianne), Katherine Attar, (husband David Lipschutz), Marc Attar (wife Kirsten), Heather Dufour (companion John Pina), Jacqueline Mello (husband Cain), Jan Forczyk, Nathan Forczyk (wife Laura), Jeremy Forczyk and great-grandchildren, Marcela, Robert, Samuel, Farah, Alex, Ezekiel, Elliana, Tyler, Korinne, Brady, Isabelle, Vito, Aurelia, Jude and Rosetta and one great-great-grandson, Kario.
Anita was also preceded in death by her daughters, Anne Louise Attar, and Claire Forczyk, grandson, Nicholas M. Forczyk, her siblings, Hedwidge Dansereau, Charlotte Kuczinski, and Lorraine Gordon and her parents, Alfred and Marie Louise (Proulx) Thibault.
Anita E. Dufour lived a life filled with love, creativity, and a profound dedication to her family and community. Her legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew her, a testament to a life beautifully lived.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 20, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River.
Her funeral will be held Friday, February 21, at 9:00 AM from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church. Entombment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
