Amario S. Moniz

Amario S. Moniz, 74, of Fall River, husband of Maria C. (Faria) Moniz, entered into rest Friday, June 24, 2016.

He served in the Portuguese Army, receiving a nursing degree and was a nurse in the Acores at the Hospital Ribeira Grande and the Clinica do Bom Jesus and a masseur at the Fall River Sports Club. A man of great faith, he arranged for families to host the Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima.

Besides his wife of 47 years, he leaves, six children, Elsa Moniz of Somerville and Sandra Moniz, Marcia Moniz-Morgan, Vicente Moniz, Antonio Moniz (wife Sarah) and Joanna Miranda (husband Peter) all of Fall River; ten beloved grandchildren, Kyle, Kiana and Rashelle Gonsalves, Macayla Friedman, Jeffrey Goncalves, Jacob, Bradley and McKenzie Moniz and Damion and Shyanne Camara; 3 great-grandchildren, Rylee and Eli Palheira and Jeffrey Goncalves, III; 2 brothers, Jose and Antonio Moniz, both of Fall River and nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Jose Raposa and Maria Gloria (Soares) Moniz and the brother of the late Carlos and Messias Moniz and Maria Ferreira.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at Santo Christo Church at 9:00 a.m. Interment, Notre Dame Cemetery.

Visitation, Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Large parking area & barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation, 3012 Elm St., Dighton MA 02715.
