Alvin L. Masse, 90, of Kilburn St. Fall River and a summer resident of Cedar Ave., Portsmouth, RI, died Saturday, October 22, 2005 at his home in Fall River. He was the husband of the late Cecile P. (Audette) Masse. A lifelong resident of Fall River he was the son of the late Philip D. and Agnes (Lafond) Masse. He was employed by Schneirson-Lizmore-Lexcraft Manufacturing for many years. An active member and volunteer of Good Shepherd Parish, he was an altar server, collector and a Marian Medal recipient. An army veteran of World War II, he was a French translator in the 216th AAA Gun Battalion and in 1945 helped liberate the Dachau Concentration Camp in Southern Germany. He was a member of the American Legion Post 314 and the Knights of Columbus, Tiverton. He is survived by a daughter, Carol A. Lapointe of Fall River and a son, Paul A. Masse of Portsmouth, RI; 4 granddaughters, Kristin and Courtney Lapointe and Nicole and Lauren Masse; a great-granddaughter, Ashlee Cambra. He was the brother of the late Stella Masse and the father-in-law of the late Robert J. Lapointe and the late Ann E. (Laderer) Masse. Following cremation a memorial mass will be held Saturday, November 19, at 10:00 a.m. in Good Shepherd Church, So. Main St., Fall River. Please omit flowers.
