Alice (Proulx) Szurleys

October 30, 1923 — March 20, 2012

Alice (Proulx) Szurleys, 88, of Detroit St., Fall River, wife of Louis P. Szurleys, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012. She studied at Bradford Durfee Textile School, and was employed by Anderson Little, Ann-Dale Cookie Co., and the Fall River School Department. A member of the former St. William Parish and Holy Trinity Parish, she enjoyed painting, sewing, gardening, and traveling. Besides her husband of 65 years, she leaves three children, Joan Sliger (Kenneth) of Tennessee, Louis P. Szurleys, Jr. (Diane) of Alaska, and Sandra Szurleys (Todd Medeiros) of Fall River; grandchildren, Kenneth Sliger, Sandra Ward (David), Natalie Nixon (David), and Rebecca, Joshua, and Angela Szurleys; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Theresa Leahy and Robert Proulx, both of Fall River; and nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Napoleon Proulx and Augustine (Levesque) Bouvier Proulx; and the sister of the late Loretta Tremblay, and Rene Bouvier. Visitation and flowers omitted. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery private. Donations to Forever Paws Animal Shelter, 300 Lynwood St., Fall River MA 02721 or Faxon Animal Rescue League, 474 Durfee St., Fall River MA 02720 appreciated. Her funeral was private.
