Alice E. (Sherman) Mathias

Alice E. (Sherman) Mathias, 90, of Fall River, passed away at Sarah Brayton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Monday, January 23, 2017. She was the wife of the late Carl William Mathias. She was employed by Darwood Manufacturing and Women's World, retiring in 1990. Alice cherished time spent shopping with her sisters. Her hobbies included knitting and reading.
Survivors include six children, Dale Mathias of Leesburg, Florida, Diane Mathias of Fall River, Gary Mathias and his wife Kelly of Dartmouth, Carl E. Mathias, Ronald Mathias and Debbie Darling, all of Fall River; four sisters, Barbara F. Place of Dartmouth, Gladys Place of Summerfield, FL, Beverly Howe of Lakeville and Barbara A. Place of Acushnet, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Gregory Mathias, the sister of the late Margaret Pittsley and George Sherman, Jr. and the daughter of the late George and Agnes (Smith) Sherman. A visitation will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River, MA from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Large parking area & barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home.
