Alice M. (Garrant) King, 75, of New Bedford, formerly of Fall River, entered into rest Wednesday, March 2, 2016. An advocate for children, she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from SMU-UMass Dartmouth and was a Massachusetts State Child Care Investigator, a Big Brothers Big Sisters Case Worker and a Parent Involvement Aide in the Head Start Program. She attended the Acushnet Senior Center and enjoyed oil painting, cooking, her card playing group, Foxwoods and the ocean, especially Horseneck Beach. She leaves two children, William J. King, Jr. of Portland, OR and Pamela Kent of Fall River; grandchildren, Ryan Borges and his wife Jeanette of Swansea, MA and Sean Kent of Fall River ; great-grand Aedan Ryan Borges and Reilly William Borges; a sister, Jeanne Medeiros of Fall River and many loving nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Eugenie (Mimeault) Garrant and the sister of the late Doris Roppe, Leah Oliveira and Henry, Richard and Frederick Garrant. Her funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. Visitation, Sunday prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Large parking area & barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Assn., PO Box 417005, Boston MA 02241-7005.
