Alice Warren Bickford, 98, of Bristol, R.I., died December 24, 2006, at Saint Elizabeth Manor, Bristol, RI., formerly of Centerville, MA and Medford, MA. Born in Somerville, MA, the daughter of the late Edgar Forrest and Grace (Carey) Bickford, she lived most of her life in Medford, MA. A graduate of Medford High School, she received her bachlor's degree in Fine Art from Massachusetts School of Art in 1930. Ms. Bickford was the former co-owner of the Central Card Shop in Medford, MA. She also worked as a buyer for the R.H. Whites Dept. Store in Boston, MA. She was a WWII Red Cross Ambulance driver, a prolific creator of oil and pastel paintings, and she had a long relationship with West Medford Congragational Church She is survived by a niece, Anna Schmierer of Los Osos, CA, and 2 nephews, Warren Poehler of Bristol, RI and Bruce Poehler of North Carolina. She leaves six great nieces and four great nephews. She was the twin sister of the late Marion Bickford, and the sister of the late Jane Ellen Poehler- Bird, Barbara and Richard Bickford. Private funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. Donations to the American Heart Association are suggested as remembrances.
