Alfred S. Matton

January 23, 1933 — April 10, 2010

Alfred S. Matton, of 181 South Main St., Fall River, husband of Noemia (Isadore) Matton passed away on Saturday. Born in Boston and living most of his life in Fall River, An Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Matton received the Occupied Germany Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. After returning home from the service Mr. Matton was employed by the former Longs Restaurant and then as a truck driver for the former Andale Products where he met his wife. They would have been married for 52 years on April 19. He then went on to work as a truck driver for Furniture Wholesalers and as a mechanic for Silvia and Davis. Mr. Matton retired from Overnight Transportation in 1998 He was a former teamster, local 526 and a past member of the Fall River Rod and Gun Club, East End Sportsman Club, Bristol County Snow Riders and the Tiverton Star Riders. Besides his wife he leaves three children, Steve Matton and his wife Ann of Somerset, and Scott Matton and his fiancée Kimberly Lewis and Cecelia Gluchaki wife of the late Alphonse all of Fall River; grandchildren, Amber and Marissa Matton and Alphonse, Aaron, Adam Gluchacki; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lorraine DiReda of Worcester, Eva Clark of Ohio, Delia Hunt of California and George Matton of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Henry and Angelina (Santos) Matton and the brother of the late Albert Matton. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church at 11:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation, Tuesday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. Donations to Hospice and Palliative Care, 502 Bedford St., Fall River MA 02720 appreciated.
