Alexander J. Cote, 83, of Tiverton, a retired Tiverton and Portsmouth firefighter, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Toohey) Cote.
He served in the Navy Seabees during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and was a member of the “Crash Crew” at T.F.Green Airport.
Alex lived a majority of his life in Tiverton, serving on the Tiverton Budget Committee and participating in various aspects of town affairs. His true passion was being a firefighter.
A clam boil was his favorite thing to eat and he was known for his authentic clambakes. He was also a passionate dog owner with a black lab always by his side.
Besides his wife of 51 years, he leaves a daughter Mary Pat Zakarian, her husband Adam and their children Blake and Brenna and a sister, Linda Allen.
He was the son of the late Alexander F. and Ann W. (McNamara) Cote.
Visitation Wednesday, Jan. 31 from 3 PM to 5 PM at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River.
His funeral will be held Thursday, Feb.1, at 10 AM from the Auclair Funeral home, with a Funeral Mass at St. Christopher’s Church, Main Rd. Tiverton at 11 AM. Burial at Pocassett Hill Cemetery.
