Alexander Thomas "Tommy" Barlow, 87, of Inverness Rd., Swansea, beloved husband of 65 years of Edna (Sutherland) Barlow and beloved father of Linda Barlow, died Tuesday, October 23, 2007.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Anthony Barlow and Mabel (Miller) Barlow-Commons and brother of the late Beatrice Barlow, he lived in Swansea most of his life.
An Army Air Corps veteran of WW II, he was a pilot, serving in India and China. A carpenter for Sutherland Brothers for 30 years, he built his own home, residing there for almost 50 years. He was avid trumpet player since high school, big band music being his favorite. An enthusiastic Red Sox and Patriots fan, he successfully recruited his wife and daughter as fans. He was very kind to the many animals his family adopted over the years and even built a "kitty condo" for "Fluffy".
Following cremation, a visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River and a memorial service will be held at Christ Church, Swansea Wednesday at 10:30 AM, followed by burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faxon Animal Rescue League, 474 Durfee St., Fall River MA 02720.
