Alex Rodriguez, affectionately known as "Aqualex," was born on February 16, 1970, in Brooklyn, New York, and he departed from this world on August 28, 2024, in Providence, Rhode Island. Throughout his life, Alex embodied the essence of joy, always known as the life of the party, illuminating the lives of those around him with his laughter and vibrant spirit.
In his professional journey, Alex most recently served as a maintenance engineer at The Omni Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island, where his dedication and hard work were evident. Prior to this role, he devoted his skills to Blue Cross Blue Shield. Alex’s ability to tackle challenges with a smile left a lasting impression on his colleagues and friends alike.
An avid New York sports fan, Alex proudly cheered for the Yankees, Giants, and Knicks, showcasing his deep-rooted passion for his hometown teams. Beyond sports, he found joy in fishing and watching movies, moments he cherished dearly with family and friends.
Alex’s life took a poignant turn when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just six months prior to his passing. His courageous battle against this formidable illness was met with grace and resilience, inspiring all who had the privilege of witnessing his strength.
He leaves behind a loving family who will forever carry his spirit in their hearts. Alex is survived by his wife, Marlen Peña Cabrera, his children Denilex Rodriguez, Aldex Rodriguez, Dalexsa Rodriguez, and their mother, Denise Escolastico. He created a nurturing home filled with love and support. He was a devoted son to his mother, Julia Maria Moronta, and his father, Hipolito Ernesto Rodriguez (wife Ana E. Rodriguez). Additionally, he is survived by his siblings, Hipolito Ernesto Rodriguez, Joyski (Niurka) Smith, Elvin Rodriguez, Hipolito "Pito" Rodriguez, Liza Rodriguez, Rosalina Rodriguez, and Miguel Francisco Rodriguez, all of whom hold treasured memories of laughter and love intertwined with the legacy of their extraordinary brother. Alex will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
As we gather to remember Alex Rodriguez, we reflect on a life rich in love, passion, and tenacity. His fondness for bringing people together, his unwavering support for his teams, and his affable nature will be sorely missed and forever celebrated.
Visitation will be held on September 5, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Auclair Funeral Home, located at 690 South Main Street, Fall River, MA.
His Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Parish, located at 239 Regent Avenue, Providence, RI. Family and friends please meet directly at church. Burial will take place in Swan Point Cemetery,
