Alda B. (Audet) Ronan, of Scituate, formerly of Fall River, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 8th, 2009, at Cardigan Nursing Home in Scituate, MA, at the age of 96. She was born in Fall River on June 3rd, 1912 to Thomas and Delia (LaCroix) Audet. Mrs. Ronan was the former President of the Ladies Auxiliary at the American Legion John Stafford Post 314 and a dedicated member of church guilds. She was employed for many years as a telephone operator at Union Hospital but she was particularly proud of her 1000+ hours of volunteer work at Saint Anne's Hospital in Fall River. Mrs. Ronan was an avid reader who enjoyed knitting. In 1982, Mrs. Ronan survived a plane crash at Logan Airport after returning from a trip to visit her sons and their families in California. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond T. Ronan who predeceased her in 1952. Devoted mother to three sons, the late Dr. Michael Ronan, who predeceased her in 2006, and his wife, Alda, of Hercules, California, David R. Ronan and his wife, Nadine, of Cohasset, and Stephen Ronan of Berkley, California. She was the loving grandmother of Kevin and Stacey Ronan both of San Diego, California, Katherine Ronan and her fiancée Christopher Seiwert of Cohasset and Meredith Ronan also of Cohasset. Mrs. Ronan is survived by her Great Grandson Austin C. Ronan, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ronan was the sister of the late Beatrice Coutu, Herve Audet, Loretta St. Laurent, Lillian Pelletier and Irene Melanson. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, January 15th from 4-8 PM at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main Street, Fall River. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 16th at 11:00 AM at the Saint Anne Parish and Shrine, 818 Middle Street, Fall River MA.
