Alan Souza

Alan Joseph Souza, born on August 28, 1943, in Fall River, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024, in his beloved hometown. Alan lived a life rich with purpose, dedication, and a deep commitment to his community.

A United States Army veteran, Alan served during the Vietnam War Era. Throughout his career, Alan worked diligently at the Newport Naval Base, contributing to the security and well-being of his nation. He was also a respected Elder in the local Native Council, where he provided guidance and wisdom to those around him. Alan's passion for service extended beyond his professional endeavors; he had a profound impact on the lives of many in his community.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Alan had a variety of hobbies that brought him joy. He enjoyed camping and found great satisfaction in crafting, often participating in craft fairs as a vendor. His love for the hunt for treasures was evident in his frequent visits to yard sales, where each find seemed to spark joy and inspiration.

Alan is survived by his loving family. He leaves behind his girlfriend of more than 10 years, Lora Parker. He is cherished by his daughter, Lynne Bates, and his son, Alan (wife Janel) Souza. His legacy continues through his granddaughters, Lana (husband Zack) Luther, Jillian (husband Zack) Allen, Mackenzie Bates, and Elizabeth and Nicole Souza, and his grandsons, Jared Souza, and Julian Bates. Additionally, he is survived by his great-granddaughters Avayah Bates, Caroline Allen, and Vivian Allen. Each member of his family carries a piece of Alan’s spirit and values forward.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia Ann (Estrella) Souza, whose memory he held dear. Alan also leaves behind the fond memories of his parents, Joseph Souza and Agnes (Macedo) Souza.

A visitation will be held at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St., Fall River, on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, with a funeral service at 11:30 AM. Burial to follow at Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.

Alan Joseph Souza will be remembered not only for his contributions to his country and community but also for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
