Alan M. Huntress, age 86, died Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Husband of Marilyn Huntress for the past twenty-six years, Alan was born in Palmer, Massachusetts on July 15, 1935, son of the late Howard and Eleanor (Murray) Huntress. A graduate of Suffern (NY) high school and Stevens Institute of Technology, he retired from Texas Instruments, Attleboro in 1991.
He and Marilyn spent several years traveling the country in a motorhome. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons; David A. Huntress (late wife Jane) of Greenwood, IN, Gary B. Huntress and his wife Cynthia Davis of Swansea; two stepchildren; Scott Murray and his wife Carol of WI, Kimberly Proulx and her husband Fred of Seekonk; three grandchildren, Samuel D. Huntress (wife Johanna) of Mansfield, Eleanor C.D. Huntress of Swansea, Ian D. Huntress (wife Leah) of Raleigh, NC; six step-grandchildren, 18 step-great-grandchildren; one sister; Judy Hallman (late husband Shannon) of Chapel Hill, NC; two brothers; Paul Huntress (wife Joan) of Auburn, WA, Gordon Huntress (wife Linda) of Cincinnati, OH and several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his first wife Mildred Christie Huntress in 1992. Alan enjoyed sailing for many years and was a fan of auto racing including Formula One. In keeping with Alan’s wishes, there will be no funeral or burial service but his family will spread his ashes at a memorial in the Spring.
