Aime A. Lachance

July 13, 1938 — February 26, 2017

Aime A. Lachance Jr., 78, Fall River, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26th, 2017, at his home surrounded by his beloved family. He was a professional Journalist and a talented Playwright with a strong work ethic. He was employed with the Fall River Herald News for 35 years as a reporter and copy editor. After retirement, he enjoyed working at Walsh's Pharmacy for the past 5 years. He was the devoted husband of Jeannette Marie (Emard) Lachance, the love of his life. They were happily married for 56 years.
Besides his wife, he leaves his three children, Richard A. Lachance and his wife Donna, Celeste A. Arruda and her husband Gregory, and Danielle M. Lachance-Gillett, all of Fall River. Aime was the adoring grandfather "Pepere" to his 10 grandchildren, Bryan Lachance, Craig Lachance and his wife Debbie, Gabrielle (Lachance) Coates and her husband Nicholas, Rachelle Lachance, Brianne and Hailey Arruda, Miranda, Wyatt, Parker Gillett and a great-grandaughter, Emma Lachance. He was the loving brother of 3 sisters, Claire Burgess and her husband John, Lucille Carvalho, Pauline Berube and her husband Paul, all of the city. He was the caring uncle to many nieces and nephews. Aime was born the son of the late Aime A. Lachance Sr. and Severine (Cote) Lachance.
He graduated as the Salutatorian from Msgr. Prevost High School in 1956. He was enlisted in the Army National Guard for 7 years and served 1 year on Active Duty. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Massachusetts Citizens for Life and the Msgr. Prevost High Alumni Association, for which he wrote their newsletter, The Maple Leaf. He was the recipient of the Marian Medal from the diocese of Fall River, Outstanding Alumnus Award from Msgr. Prevost Alumni Assoc. and a Service Award from Mass Citizens for Life. Aime lived by his Catholic faith, enjoyed meeting people, listening to their stories and making their life better in any way he could. He also enjoyed gardening, going to the theatre, writing musicals, reading and, most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren. He was a serious man with a great heart and a charming sense of humor. He gave his all and asked for nothing in return. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
