Aime P. Durette

Aime P. Durette, 86 of Sanford Road, Westport, formerly of Norwood St. and Barnes St., Fall River, husband of Rhea (Roy) Levesque Durette and husband of the late Rita (Menard) Durette, died Saturday, April 19, 2008. A World War II veteran he was stationed in Panama attaining the rank of Carpenter's Mate First Class. He was a 62 year member of Carpenters Union Local 1305 serving on the apprentice committee and as a trustee. He was employed by F.L. Collins, White's, Stone & Webster & Perini Construction and was project foreman on several local projects including New England Power, Somerset, Algonquin Gas, Freetown and the New Bedford Hurricane Barrier. He was a lifetime member of Notre Dame Parish and served as a collector, Holy Name Society member and Boy Scout troop leader. He was an exceptional finish carpenter putting his skill to good use on family projects. He cherished visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed traveling, restaurants, Foxwoods and photography. Besides his wife of 10 years, he leaves 11 children, Robert Durette (wife Ann) of Somerset, Richard Durette (wife Therese), Donald Durette (wife Beverly), and Claire Rabbitt (husband Michael) all of Fall River, Claudette Firlit of Dighton, Paul Durette (wife Janet), Gerard Durette (Joyce) and Marc Durette (wife Madeline) all of Westport, Janet Longo (husband Kenneth) and Denis Durette (wife Joann) all of Lakeville and Nanette Philips (husband Kevin) of Independence, MO; 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sisters,Yvette Plante of Westport and Lucille Pineault of Littleton, NH and nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Augustin and Laureanna (Blanchette) Durette and the brother of the late Rene, Maurice and Ronald Durette. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Notre Dame Church at 10:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation, Tuesday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA AND BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. Flowers are welcomed or donations in Aime Durette's memory may be made to Notre Dame Church, 529 Eastern Ave., Fall River MA 02723.
