Abilio R. "Abel" Oliveira, 64, of Swansea, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 7, 2014, after a brief battle with cancer. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 42 years, Charlotte (Cormier) Oliveira. Abilio was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, the son of the late Joseph P. and Hortence (Raposo) Oliveira. He graduated from Diman Vocational High School in 1968 and worked for nearly 30 years as a forklift mechanic with Teknor Apex, Co. of Pawtucket, RI. He lived in Swansea for the last 34 years and was a member of the American Legion Post 303. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Joseph P. Oliveira, and his wife Taonga of North Andover, MA, Matthew Oliveira, and his wife Julie, of Barrington, RI and Andrew M. Oliveira of Swansea; two beautiful grandchildren, Ava and Ryan, his brother, Michael Oliveira of Fall River and several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Abilio enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends and spoiling his grandchildren. He was an avid and passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He also enjoyed his many years as a coach in the Swansea Independent Baseball League (SIBL). His funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. Cremation to follow. Visitation, Sunday 3:00 to 6:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
