Mary Jane Walls

Mary Jane Walls, 81, of Somerset, passed away at home Monday, November 6, 2023.

A teacher for 35 years, she taught in Fall River schools, predominantly at  Talbot Middle School. After her retirement from the Fall River Public Schools she became both an instructor and volunteer tutor in the Adult Education Program at Bristol Community College.

She was a member of Fall River Educators Association, Massachusetts Teachers Association and the Somerset Sportsmans Club.  She loved to travel to Ireland and was an avid gardener who wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty.

She was the daughter of the late James and Mildred (Curry) Walls and the companion of the late David Cordeiro.

She leaves her siblings, Ellen Keavy (husband John) of Jamestown, RI and John T. Walls (wife Atchara) of California, and her long-time friend, Sarah Hague, of Fall River. She was the sister of the late James Walls III (former wife Ann); 3 nieces and 2 nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River.  Her funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home with a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Spring St. at 10:00 AM.  Burial, St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset.
