Joyce A. (Phelan) Sylvia

Joyce A. (Phelan) Sylvia, 89, of Fall River, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021 at St.Anne's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Ronald Sylvia. A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, she was a teacher's aide in the Grandparent Program at the Aldrich School.

Previously, she was employed by Durfee High School, Aetna Insurance Co. and Bank of America.

She loved Jesus and the Patriots and volunteered in a Women’s ministry at church.

She was the daughter of the late Evelyna (Cote) and Edward Phelan and the niece of Stanly Cote who helped raise her.

She was the sister of the late Edward Phelan.

She leaves three children, Dana T. Anderson (wife Diane), Pamela J. Andrade and Laurie A. McElroy; grandchildren, Amie McElroy, Melodie Bishop (husband Scott), Douglas Jason Goncalo, Alfred Cateon, Jr., Matthew Cateon; great-grandchildren, Jocelyn,Tyler and Bryton, Alexus and Makayla, Taylor, Desiree, and Savannah, Micah, and Josiah, and one nephew, and several nieces and cousins.

A visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So.Main St. Fall River. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home.  Committal prayers at Notre Dame Mausoleum.
